I remember Henry Wallace backers at the 1948 Democrat convention chanting "we want Henry Wallace, we want Henry Wallace, we want Henry Wallace..in the White House!" [betting no one else remembers this]... but Wallace, FDR's VP before Truman, gave a very insightful speech in 1942, using terms like "freedom for the common man", but explained with very uncommon knowledge, and he was probably the first to expose the many wealthy backers of Adolph Hitler, both in the U.S. and abroad....of course he never became POTUS, probably because he knew too much... americanrhetoric.com
