A post and a comment The Exact Moment Muhammad Ali Silenced His Critics huffingtonpost.com I always rooted for Ali. Was into boxing large when I was about 26 on. Long ago worked in Lakeland, and our warehouse manager was Polk County heavyweight champ. He and a bunch of guys from work used to go to Tampa and Orlando on alternating weekends to amateur and pro fights. At one bunch of fights in Orlando, Ali was the guest referee for the main event. These fights were more fun than most world championship fights for sure. We always bought closeup seats, and drank beers till we could hardly see straight. Some fun times back then (Wharfy probably remembers me posting about this)
