Pancho.

In doing some further checking regarding the DEC/ALCY rumor, it seems more likely if anything happens it will be a licensing deal. ALCY is way too expensive IMO for DEC to buy. A licensing deal would however does make some sense.

+ DEC has an extensive world-wide sales force covering a lot of large F-1000 customers. ALCY does not .

+ DEC has an world class System Integration/Consulting business (ranked #1 in customer satisfaction in a recent ComputerWorld survey)

+ Having a set of tools to compliment their consulting expertise to sell into the Y2K market makes sense for DEC. IMO, it is likely that ALCY's big sale to Ford was to a large extent sold by DEC. Ford has a lot of older DEC systems.

I am not currently long or short in ALCY. Was long and sold at a small profit awhile back. It has had good run lately and is looking better and better as a short but I personally will not do it until I feel morel comfortable about the ALCY/DEC relationship.

If I hear anything more concrete, I will post it here. I really dislike dealing in rumors and have never done it. This is an exception since in some ways it makes a lot of sense. For that reason alone, however, it may never happen.
