The thing about Trump's desire to pay off the national debt is that it would also result in a vastly diminished money supply.. and since the Wilshire (3600) 5000 is locked directly in step with M2 (and has been since 2008), it could have dramatically negative impacts on the stock markets.

It would dry up Trillions in sovereign debt that is currently backing up derivatives and other debt as collateral.
