| | | Pubo, Trump squandered his five-week head start after wrapping up his party's nomination on May 3 as Clinton and Bernie Sanders battled another month. This is establishment politics for you.
What's the significance of that "five-week head start"? That's just a construct created by the media and by the political pundits. It assumes that just because Hillary was pre-occupied by Bernie for the past five weeks, she did not have any time to focus on fending off Trump and his attacks.
That's silly because no matter what, there is plenty of time during the general campaign where Hillary can make up for lost ground. Even if Trump didn't stick his foot in his mouth over the past five weeks, Hillary would have eventually found her anti-Trump narrative. It's not like there is a lack of "Trump-isms" to go after.
Make no mistake, this whole campaign is a circus, and it is created by the media for the benefit of the media. That's why you have CNN, MSNBC, FOXNews, and all of the "new media" outlets hosting political pundits 24/7.
That's also why you have the AP "calling" the primary election for Hillary the night before the big primaries, including California's. Instead of reporting on the news, they wanted to create the news and be the first to report on it. I saw it put this way, "It's the journalistic equivalent of an Internet trolling posting 'FIRST!'"
