I don't think the attack on USS Liberty was "deliberate". The Israelis are a lot of things but they aren't STUPID. If the attack had been deliberate they would have SUNK Liberty to get rid of witnesses and data. They may have had things to hide but NONE of those things would have been as important to them as the blowback of the Liberty attack.
