(NEWSER) – Mitt Romney has made no secret of his distaste for Donald Trump, but the former Republican presidential nominee is taking his trolling of the soon-to-be current Republican presidential nominee to new levels, reports CNN, telling a group of donors Saturday that the party's current predicament is "breaking my heart." Romney lit into the field of GOP candidates—specifically Ted Cruz and John Kasich, the latter for whom he campaigned—for failing to stop the billionaire's rise. "Ted Cruz was basically praising Donald Trump through the whole process until the very end," Romney said, while Kasich "was in well after the time there was no possible pathway to becoming the nominee." The response? Per CNN, "a 21-second round of applause." Other highlights:
More on Trump: "I find this so troubling, and I know a lot of folks are saying, 'Mitt just get off your high horse on this and get behind the guy.' But these things are personal. I love this country. I love the founders. I love what this country is built upon and its values and seeing this is breaking my heart."
For those who might back Trump just to prevent Hillary Clinton from nominating Supreme Court justices, it's "a darn good reason."
