Wonderbread, I'm with E. Schwab. details follow.
E Schwab allows computer dealing, fast transaction updates, daily position updates, history updates. Schwab's software stinks so don't even bother to load it.
If you day trade using schwab, do it through the internet, do not do it using schwab's software. You log on to schwab.com, select customer log on, then bookmark that page. In the future, hit your bookmark and you will be logged on to the right place. You have to re-enter your account name and password each time you log on, except if you stay logged in and get quotes.
In summary it's a really good service, except, when the trading is very heavy. Then, their computers slow down.
You can open an account and deposit money at the local Schwab office, but no E Schwab service is avialable there. You have to use the E Schwab 800 number for service, and you get very little service. You get a voice mail system and quotes operated by voice recognition. E Schwab is mainly for people that know what they are doing and don't need advice, because there is none.
If you want more info, just ask. I use this service very heavily to day trade. At least 8 transactions per day, and I don't loose my way, you can verify every transaction, view account history, etc while on line.
