Joe,

I said that about 20% - 30% of my choices do very well and about a third fail. I can't name 10 to 20 stocks I've bought that are losers compared to 1 or 2 winners because that's not the case at all. While I believe my stock picking ability has improved over the years, my strategy is the BTT strategy and it's working.

So the question is why is it working for me and not for you? I'm very confident I'm following their strategy as recommended. Maybe I'm not or maybe you aren't?

Here's what I've done since the most recent BTT market signal. Let me know if I've made a mistake or if I'm not following their recommendations.

I began buying the most recently listed BTT core stock ideas following the signal. BTT has said on numerous occasions (I have the notes) and they said it did again in February to look to buy my most favored recently added core stock after the BTT signal. The two most recently added BTT core stocks at the time of the signal were AMZN and #4. IMO, AMZN is by far the better choice and I don't think anyone would argue differently but I bought both.

Shortly after the BTT signal, BTT added a new choice that met all the BTT core attributes. BTT actually talked about buying stocks with the core attributes at the time they added #5. I don't believe they did so by chance.

I've found there aren't many choices during a year that meet the core attributes. Maybe eight to twelve a year so it's not too hard to keep track of them.

Not only did #5 meet the criteria as a new listed idea shortly after the BTT signal, it's vastly superior products are in demand from four of the hottest, biggest and fastest growth markets. I've found multiple market leaders to be very strong performers and using BTT choices there are half a dozen of these during a year. I bought it and mentioned buying it in one of my messages.

I'm following the BTT suggestion to keep non core buys to no more than one choice, maybe it two if the market is going great. Doing so limits the ideas to a dozen at most so I'll never have 10 to 20 losers for every winner.

Most of the big winners are core stocks so I'm focused on buying mostly core stocks. This is an idea that appears to be the one used by a few others that post here. Still it's what BTT has recommended so I'm focusing the majority of my buys on these.

I did buy a non-core idea that rallied strongly but after some resignations I sold the stock for no gain.

I bought another non-core stock that I ended up being sold for a small profit.

Back to the core ideas. The next new core idea they added was number 3. I didn't buy it because I already had a position in the industry that was working well. I don't want to have 25% of my portfolio in the same group unless I'm really blown away by the idea. I think I said in one of my messages I didn't think this idea was as good as the other.

The next new core idea addition was #2. I didn't buy it because China's market looked weak to me and I already had a position in China with another core idea bought shorly after the market signal. I might expand the number if that market gets better.

The next new core addition was #8. I bought it and commented on it in one of the recent messages.

That's it. I'm following the strategy, at least according to what I've read, in a very disciplined manner and its working very well.

If this is helpful then good. If I'm not following the strategy, which I believe I am , you might give some thought to some of these ideas.

If I had no gains in the past 20 months I'd be trying something different. But that isn't the case. I've done much better than the market and expect to again this year and in the years to come.

I know now that if I'd excercised the same discipline I am now I would have done much better than I did in the strong market periods. At the time I was very happy with the results but have learned some valuable things since that have improved my performance.

Any thoughts?
