Wicked high pressures forming as summer approaches. Brutal. Records in desert SW with 600 decameter ridge. Wow! I'll tell you what, though, this will set the stage for the summer monsoon season, which will bring needed rain to the region...silver lining.

I expect a quasi-persistent ridge to form just east of Rocky Mountains. That would correspond with temperature troughs over east coast + west coast U.S. Heat in midsection.

The poles are cooling rapidly coming out of the peak of El Nino. As tropical sea-surface temperatures go, so goes global temperatures. You can see the drop in the El Nino index from early March to just now. However, the index spiked with relaxation of trade winds. Watch global temperatures tick upward, too.

Again, here's a snapshot of the peak heating from El Nino, with estimated global temperature anomaly at +1.04C and Arctic at +6.46C. This is relative to 1979-2000 average.

Just yesterday, down to +0.18C. That's 0.86C drop 3.5 months. The heat is dissipating.
