The gold standard limits economies to the amount of gold around to back it. Gold is rare, but not as rare as some other metals. Using it as a standard is totally arbitrary, based mainly on tradition. It's silly.

We back our economy on the full faith and credit of the US government, which will be worth a lot less if Trump becomes president.
