Velocity and capacity notwithstanding...can you tell me what purpose one of these has other than to kill people?
a) Hunt down those really aggressive deer.

b) A creative way to make fruit salad. Just stack a bunch of fruit 20 yards away and have at it.

c) When you've locked yourself out of your home and can't wait for the locksmith.

d) Show off to your friends. A great way to compensate for deficiencies in biological manhood.

Believe me, I too share your dislike of assault rifles and wish there really was some way we could ban them. Their utility in public settings is really questionable to me, and the only self-defense scenario I could think of is home defense. And even then, if the perp is indoors, a rifle is still less wieldy than a pistol.

Of course, I'm going to hear it from the NRA folks, but whatever.
