<< CRIMINAL COMPLAINT. The Santa Clara County District Attorney's office also is investigating the allegations of misappropriation of trade secrets set forth in Cadence's lawsuit, described above. On April 11, 1997, the Santa Clara County District Attorney filed a criminal complaint alleging felony level offenses against, among others, Avant! and the following Avant! employees and/or directors, Gerald C. Hsu, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Y. Eric Cho, a member of the Board of Directors, Y. Z. Liao, Corporate Fellow, Stephen Wuu, CEO Staff, Operations, Leigh Huang, Marketing Manager and Eric Cheng, Research and Development Manager, for allegedly violating various California Penal Code sections relating to the theft of trade secrets. Avant! and the individuals have pleaded not guilty and are awaiting further proceedings. The criminal complaint could result in criminal fines against Avant!, as well as the potential incarceration of certain members of its management team.
