Yeah, he totally blew it.

I worked on PDP/11s and VAXes in the late 70s, and one of the first (and last) DEC stores was near my office off Mockingbird Ave in Dallas. I recall going in there and just being floored at the contrast between DEC's idea of the home computer revolution and what you found in stores like The Micro Store on Central Expwy or even the Radio Shack Computer Stores in Richardson and Addison.

It was immediately apparent DEC had zigged when it should have zagged.
