I wish I had more firm numbers on Q2 sales, but I'll tell you what is
significant...
Shanghai Dynasty. Yes, the game is being released this week. This is
not just a rehash of the old Shanghai game in which you try to remove
all the tiles succesfully. This is the first time that I've ever
heard of any game being a Mah-jongg simulator.
Can I tell you how popular Mah-jongg is in the Asian (Chinese) and Jewish communities,
especially among older people? Apparently, you will be able to play over
the Internet with others...I don't know if it'll be as much fun as
playing in person, which it is, once you get the hang of scoring, etc.
This is a whole new audience for ATVI. ATVI just needs to publicize the
game and let people know that this is not just the old Shanghai game,
but Mah-jongg as well, 'cause when I first heard of it, that's what
I thought it was. Anyhow, among women, the old Shanghai is one of those highly
addictive games.
