Right now, Boeing is taking orders for delivery in the year 2000. Not exactly a few months away. While a lot of the delay is due to a big backlog of orders, I don't see a parallel between building standardized 747's and building specialized production lines.

There is a standardized blueprint for building a 747 which varies little among customers. Building production lines would vary substantially from one customer to the next.
