An open order file is an interesting concept. I will give this some thought. However, for the most part, I was referring to the treatment Chris has been receiving. I may not agree with what the MMs do or even with what Chris may be doing as a MM, but I would consider myself very foolish to turn down information from one MM who is willing to talk about the market making operations of NASDAQ. And my other point is that at least for now, the MMs are here to stay, so lets spend out timelearning how to effectively deal with it.

I do not agree with the following proposition, but lets assume for the purpose of our discussion here that someone like Chris is comparable to the car theif who has probably impacted the lives of many of us here. So what do we do? Jail them all? For every one jailed, there is another to take their place, and then they are back on the streets in quick time stealing more cars. How about leanring how to avoid car theft? Novel idea, right? So what do we do? We think alarm. So we go out and purchase a pricey alarm system that most of the time goes off and gives false alarms, and at the same time irritates everybody around withing a square city block of the automobile. As time has passed, very few individuals now take notice of a car when its alarm going off. Success?? Next, we think of the "Club" that locks the steering wheel which is a pain to use everytime you get out of the car. Does this work?

The most informative report that I saw on this topic was a 5 minute video that taped an attempt by an experienced car theif who willingly participated in this report. The car was rigged with every coneivable alarm device. They were timed for how long it would take them to successfully get into the car and drive it off. Guess what?? They disabled that alarm in less than a minute. They cut through the Club in about one or two minutes. Inside of what amounted to be about 5 minutes, this 16 year old car theif was able to disable every single alarm and theft prevention device that was installed on that car, except for one: a well-placed kill switch which is a 25 cent item. In this video documentary, the car theif was allowed to show the viewer his MO and what he is capable of doing, and most importantly, what stopped him. I have never heard of such an approach to edjucating the consumer, but it was very, very effective to me. Perhaps something is to be learned here.

Only fools throw their money at a problem while wishing the problem to "go away", and not wanting to have anything to do with being shown by the perpetrator how in this case cars are stolen. The smart ones who watched this generous car theif in action have that 25 cent kill switch installed in their car for a grand total of $30.00 including installation, and live with the problem effectively solved. But do you find many people doing this? Of course not! This would take away something for everyone to complain about. Right? And there would be no need for that "talking" alarm: "GET AWAY! GET AWAY NOW! GET AWAY FROM MY CAR! I AM AN ALARMED DEVICE THAT WILL SCARE YOU AWAY BY GOING OFF UNTIL YOUR EARDRUMS BURRrrrrrsttttt....", as the car theif removes the alarm from its power source. But then there are many silly and foolish people out there, just as there are many successful car theives. I wonder if the two are related?

So how is this for my creative writing effort for the day, irby?
