Trump doesn't have any CASH.

All his wealth is tied up in buildings and other assets.

He'd have to borrow against his assets to raise any actual cash. And most of his assets are already mortgaged.

We don't know how much cash he does or doesn't have.

But what we do know is that before he went into this he talked with Gingrich, and asked Gingrich straight out, "If I do this self-financed, how much will it cost me?" Gingrich answered, "Maybe $80 Million." Trump responded to Gingrich, "A Yacht."

Now, Trump went into it with a reasonable estimate of the cost of the project. He hasn't spent anywhere near that. It is totally not credible that he would have entered into it without the $80 million in cash or at least with formal loan commitments of that amount or more. The likelihood of that is nil. And if, somehow, he managed to do something so stupid, he doesn't need to be president anyway.

But we also know that as of July he had between 80 and 230 million in cash and cash equivalents. That is broad range, but that was money he could pull out of his pocket. Since he has been reported by independent sources to have multiple billions in net worth, that is collateral, he would be good for any amount of money he could possibly need in this campaign.

It is absurd to think he doesn't have the money given the real estate interests we know he owns. Even though the property is mortgaged and he may have small "promoter" interests, they're a lot.

This is silly.
