LOL! The big lie theory.

That is, if the lie you tell is a big enough one, people will believe it!

The reason that this card trick "works" (i.e. the card you picked is always missing after the cards are "shuffled") is because the cards weren't shuffled at all - they were ALL CHANGED. Your card is missing because every card that was shown in the first shuffle is missing.

Some clever selection of the substituted cards makes this somewhat difficult to see at first glance unless you actually memorize the cards. The fact that you weren't expecting this bold of a lie is also a big help in pulling it off.

So, if you are observant enough, all is exactly what it seems to be. Believe in what you see, not in what you are told that you are seeing.

Go ahead, tell the big lie. Perhaps a lot of people will believe you. Some of us won't.
