Interesting re: USB. I was thinking about bank stocks last night w/ the outlook for rising rates getting pushed farther into the future, and I got to thinking about WFC and some of Buffett's comments. Some of my larger investing mistakes have been in financials (although I do understand insurance pretty well) so my tendency is to leave a wide berth. Anyhow I was looking at Wells Fargo by the metrics with an eye towards "is there anything like WFC out there?" I landed on USB. I'm not sure if they're really very similar at all as I haven't studied either much, but from the metrics standpoint it seems similar and at similar valuation. Plan to look at both WFC and USB some this week. Normally my forays into banking are bad ideas, but I'll keep trying. ;-)
