I sold out of HCP at $36 and change last fall, swapped it for VTR (tax loss swap). That turned out to be one of my better plays. HCP is down about a buck from the sale date, VTR is up over 35% from purchase.
VTR is severely overbought, and I'm considering exiting in my wife's portfolio. Thinking of putting the proceeds back into HCP. I know HCP has had some operational challenges, but it remains a dividend aristocrat, 6.5% yield while VTR is now a shade below 4%. HCP definitely out of favor, but may be worth a contrarian look at these prices.
Any comments from the thread? TIA.
