Fuchi, please accept my sincere apologies for responding to your post. Were it any other day, I would probably have sat aside. I have read all that you have psoted and appreciated same.

I have also have a CYRX p200+ and I have an Intel PII/266 clocked at 75MHz too. The PII is the clear winner.

I spent half of this day servicing a client who has an Alpha processor running NT and my apps. After a bit of tweaking, those apps ran very nicely. That DEC Alpha creamed any Intel chip showing 1+MB random reads in a network where Ethernet has a theoretical read time of 1.0MB. Scary.

First the PII isn't THAT much better than the P5 or any CYRX CPU. But it is better. Second, the PII does not "COOK" but rather has yet to exceed a 33C temp regardless of what I throw at it.

While bargain hunters on this thread wait for theirs, I have mine. It does wide SCSI and it does it at 300MHZ. While I am killing my kid at Quake, you folk are waiting for the next gen. Excuse me but my kid only has 40 years on me and I spent all of $1,000 to get an advantage that would make us equal! It was called a PII versus his P5.

I haven't reported my Norton because it isn't 60+ but rather 100+.
Next month, a PII/233 will cost $200+ and the PII MB will cost less than my M-Tech MB cost me to support CYRX properly. What then?

Methinks it is all in the mx(i) and in the Cayenne ... if and when they become realities. Please excuse me if I sell a few shares of APM and WDC and NSM to make room for some GROWTH stocks.

Craig
