Tom - Quite a mixed bag... let me see if I have this straight... you are saying that Telecom standards (like Europe's decision to go with GSM) have been selected solely because Ericsson lies about CDMA....?? Not that the governing body had any say in the decision, they were too wrapped up in the veil of deceit created by those Eviiiiiil Swedes? Do you really, truly believe that, or are you using it as a crutch?
Granted, Ericsson has stated in the past, that they didn't believe CDMA would work, and minimized the supposed "improvements" that CDMAone proponents were expecting, but how is this different from any other business downplaying their competitors? Heck, I see worse disparagement of competitors products every day on TV, but don't see too many other companies crying about it constantly. Check out some of the fast food commercials McDonalds and Burger King run as an example...
Frezza shmezza. Bill has his views, I have mine. If you are going to claim Ericsson lied, prove it. Don't fall back on "general knowledge", or "anyone with any interest" or "if you followed this closely". That's just a mechanism to make me feel I have to prove something, when it is really you who have made the claims (i.e. Ericsson lied, and it's a fact they'll never have WCDMA) so the burden of proof is yours. Show me the facts or go away and come back when you can.
I will say it again... If Ericsson ever ACTIVELY PUSHED for a standardized system, that they said they would deliver, and then didn't... they'd be committing fiscal suicide. That is a completely different situation from stating a belief that other systems that you have no intention of building won't work. I again ask, what benefit can their be to Ericsson to claim they can deliver WCDMA, and then not do it, other than the short term delay of Wideband implementation?
I've not asked you or anyone else to "absolutely trust" Ericsson... I just said don't claim things are facts (like Ericsson can't deliver WCDMA) unless you can prove them. You can't prove it, so you keep trying to throw up the history of the great wrongs Ericsson has committed as evidence.
It's a shame you haven't bought it... I've got fantastic profits with Ericsson in a relatively short amount of time... meanwhile QCOM is back in the $50-$60 range where it's been languishing (except for the recent spike) for what ?? 2+ years?
