Trump: Sanders 'lost the FBI primary'

By Jesse Byrnes July 05, 2016, 08:23 pm

"He just lost today the FBI primary. He lost the FBI primary," Trump said of Sanders. "Bernie, my poor Bernie! Oh, Bernie, I feel so badly for Bernie."FBI Director James Comey said earlier Tuesday that evidence showed Clinton was " extremely careless" in handling classified emails over her private server, but that he would not recommend criminal charges against her for mishandling government secrets.

Trump added onto the FBI director's characterization of Clinton, calling her "grossly incompetent" in her practices as secretary of State.

"A lot of Bernie Sanders supporters are going to be voting for Trump because Bernie Sanders was right," Trump said during his rally.

"Bernie Sanders was right about a couple of things. He's right about the system being rigged," Trump said, using the word that popped up frequently from his campaign on Tuesday.

Clinton campaigned with President Obama in Charlotte, N.C., earlier in the day Tuesday, their first joint campaign appearance since Clinton became the presumptive Democratic nominee in early June.

Sanders has not formally suspended his campaign, but has acknowledged that Clinton is likely to be named the party's nominee at its convention later this month.

"Now it looks like it's over for Bernie," Trump said Tuesday.

Still, Trump predicted that supporters of Sanders would protest Clinton at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia.

"I have a feeling that they're going to have a lot of people marching on Philadelphia," Trump said. "Let's see what happens."
