By large the teachers are free to teach the subject they are assigned. I think you are looking for problems and exaggerating what problems there are because in your mind you see basic education as liberal propaganda i.e. facts have a liberal bias.

Of all the people I know who spent a lot of time in school, I have never heard anyone complain about the teachers. Yes there are some bad ones, but most of the teachers are very good and do a good job.

When I get together with friends and family most of whom are fairly well educated no one complains about the teachers. The only thing wrong with our educational system is that we are not allocating enough money. That is what the complain about.

As I have said over and over, if we as a society want to reduce crime, reduce poverty and increase productivity education is our best tool. The best thing we could do is fund free public preschools with a hot meal starting at 2 1/2 and extend free community colleges for anyone that wants to attend them.
