I think I do something like that intuitively, or at least try to.

Might be worth using it to time moves in and out of a broad market index. Those are daily bars, I assume one would buy/sell the open based on the previous days closing signal. My gut feeling is that the gains are small for the effort, unless one has vast sums so that small moves mean something. Similar to my take on protective spreads and whatnot.

Since you use a calendar related system (or used to use) to time moves in and out of an index, youcould always try it with a few thousands of real money and see what the obstacles might be. That's the only kind of testing I ever do.
