7/8/16 Contest update
Too awful a week of killing for me to try to come up with one of my usual dumb update intros. So, I’ll just give the numbers.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -26.38% YTD (vs. down -28.79% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -19.91% YTD (vs. down -22.38% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -17.92% YTD (vs. down -20.52% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed down -1.01% YTD (vs. down -2.89% YTD a week ago).
MASTER’s portfolio, up 14.27% YTD, took back the Contest lead, with DNAJOE’s portfolio, up 12.57%% YTD, slipping to second place. DANIEL’s portfolio, down -4.03% YTD, held on to third place.
At Friday’s close, 56 of the 58 Contest portfolios remained in the red, with 17 beating the NBI and just 13 still beating the SPSIBI. The 223 Contest stock picks had an average YTD loss of -19.58% and a median YTD loss of -23.11%, with 46 of the 223 Contest portfolio stocks up for the year.
