As for Win7 vs Win10, I prefer Win7, but recommend taking advantage of the Win10 upgrade which many people like better.

You can have both by dual-booting. This can be done by using two drives or by having two partitions on the same drive for the separate operating systems.

If you upgrade though, be sure to make a drive image or clone of your Win7 first so you will be able to revert back to Win7 after the upgrade if needed. An image backup will also allow you to create a dual-boot in the future if you decide to do it.
