The CRB (commodities) index is setting new lows right now. I don't think Soros's comment will have much effect on the market now, but it is a interesting issue.

The Asian Flu will have widespread impact on the price of goods since the demand will be reduced even to the level of commodities. One example is the price of wet salted hides since Korea is a major importer for the production of leather. Also will it effect the price of more conventional commodities, like corn,wheat,soybean - most likely yes. And the cost of imports of finished products from Asia will be cheaper.

If the deflationary image increases then the liklihood of Greenspan increasing rates will decrease futher.
