ok, I guess that's more or less consistent with what I'm seeing:

Main file is 156G dated from today - what have I done? I didn't try to back up anything today. Maybe when I reconnected the external drive the automated backup kicked right in after being denied for a month..

From last backup in June, 1 file is 11G and there are 9 other files of the same date that are <100 KB. June backup must have been flawed, there have always been >100G. The wake of electronic anomalies indicates to me that its only a matter of time until there is the word SYNDROME after my name.
