thought I'd mention a few things I've done that are not usually written about.

1. I covered all our windows (including storm doors) with 3M Ultra PR S 50 film.

2. I'm still working on a safe room. Have concrete floor, and secured all 4 walls with masonry and more, and have a double solid steel door at one exit. It opens to the exterior.
Have one interior door to go.

3. Here is an unpickable dead bolt technique that we use each night in addition to regular dead bolts.
We slide one or two 16 penny galvanized nails in the casing and framing of each entry door. I drill hole about 60 degree angle so more nail is in the framing, leaving only about 3 inches exposed.
Lowe's has the nails cheap.
Galvanized to prevent rust stains around the holes. Nobody has ever noticed the holes.
