Its certainly not something that's ever happened to me. And I feel like a conspiracy theorist even talking about it.

But the files really did disappear over two consecutive days (or at least that's when I noticed them). They were not in the Bin, don't know what else to think. Maybe I inadvertently renamed them but that's also hard to believe.

One of the missing files is still present on the Recent Files list, both in Excel and in Explorer. (the other file was not used recently). When I click on it, it gives me a Cannot Find message, tells me it may have been renamed, moved or deleted.

I downloaded Recoveh (Recover) this morning and am running it now. In fact, I cranked it up 2 hours ago, its still going. I'm in Stage 1 of 3. I think the initial phase just searches for deleted files. So far it has found 1.4 million deleted files(!) and its only 75% complete (just reading the progress box). I think if you pay for the Pro version one can constrain the search. I'll be very happy if this finds my missing files - I'll let you know the outcome later this afternoon.

p.s. One note - when I tried to run Recover, it didn't really do what Geek claimed it would. No way to pull up an individual file, as far as I could tell. Recovery involved a total replacement and would remove but not replace some major programs that I would have had to do myself. Maybe things changed with Win 10 although Geek says they have pretty much brought back the Win 7 version.
