7/15/16 Contest update
Another week of heartbreak. But like a force of nature, the heartless market just keeps doing its thing.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -27.08% YTD (vs. down -26.38% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -19.48% YTD (vs. down -19.91% YTD a week ago), while the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -18.58% YTD (vs. down -17.92% YTD a week ago). But the Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) is now in the green for the year, although barely. The NCI closed up .44% YTD (vs. down -1.01% YTD a week ago).
MASTER’s portfolio, up 15.10% YTD, held on to the Contest lead, with DNAJOE’s portfolio, up 10.72% YTD, continuing in second place. DANIEL’s portfolio, down -1.81% YTD, remains in third place.
At Friday’s close, 56 of the 58 Contest portfolios remained in the red, with 17 still beating the NBI and 13 still beating the SPSIBI. The 223 Contest stock picks had an average YTD loss of -20.28% and a median YTD loss of -25.63%, with only 47 of the 223 Contest portfolio stocks up for the year.
