| | | | 150 technology leaders who publicly declared that Trump would be a terrible president. Senior technologists associated with Apple ( AAPL), Google ( GOOGL), Facebook ( FB), Samsung ( 005930.KS), Expedia ( EXPE), StubHub, Qualcomm ( QCOM), Trulia, Cisco ( CSCO), MIT and dozens of other organizations recently signed a public letter in the Huffington Post saying, “Trump would be a disaster for innovation.” They claim his efforts to reduce immigration and restrict trade would hamper innovation rather than foster it. On top of that, corporate America’s two biggest lobbying groups – the Business Roundtable and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce – have railed against Trump’s plans to roll back free-trade deals, hunt down illegal immigrants and build a wall on the Mexican border. Such moves would hurt business at big multinational companies, which, love them or hate them, employ millions and account for a large chunk of US GDP. So the jeers directed at Trump from the business community drown out the occasional cheers. |
