Robert,
There's no doubt a quality 21" monitor would hold its value over the next few years but the pricing crosses my pain threshold. I do not do enough work at home today to justify the extra $ and the premium to go from 17" to 19" just isn't that high. The fact that todays 19" monitors have a footprint similar to the 17" is also attractive.

Unfortunately, our current furniture will not accomodate a 21" monitor even using your corner trick or pulling the desk farther away from the wall. When we move (couple years) I'll purchase computer furniture that can handle a large monitor. Who knows, by then we may be talking about a 25" monitor! If I upgrade then, i can move the 19" to my backup PC! that's not so bad.

It is helpful to know that the 1600x1200 is really only practical on a 21" monitor. It sets my expectations appropriately.

thanks again
steve h
