Watch the Earth Spin Through One Year in 2 Minutes

On February 11, 2015, NOAA's Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite was launched on a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral. About 5 months later, on July 6, the first photo from the Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) was released, taken from Lagrange point 1—where the gravity from the Earth and the sun equal each other and hold the satellite in place—approximately 1 million miles away from our planet.

Now, after more than 3,000 images were taken over the course of a year, NASA created a timelapse of Earth, letting you watch the planet spin and change for a whole year in just a couple minutes. Jay Herman, the EPIC lead scientist (which has got to be the most awesome job title ever), narrates as you watch the Earth twirl for 365 days. Be sure not to miss the amazing solar eclipse, where the shadow of the moon passes over the face of our home.
