OTMSFT became a monopoly when it primary products DOS and Windows 3.1 were pieces of Sht!! Cary, Can't say I agree. Although MSFT may appear to be sh* to many people, a common complaint esp. among computer types, it is/was the onlysystem compatible with practically everything. Everyone made their products to work with it. Doesn't always happen; I know there were more than several occasions when I seriously delibaerated on throwing my system out the window. But in the end, I would not switch even if given the choice. And this is the important point. People have had a choice. First they did not want Apple. Then IBM came out with an OS. Nada. People want compatibility even if it means a less-than-perfect OS. I never noticed anyone stick a gun to anyone's head in all of my computer shopping. So to claim MSFT did not "earn" their dominance is not fair to MSFT and an assumption that millions of computer purchasing people don't know any better. An insult if ever I heard one. Regards, Brian
