The welder's son could give Mrs Clinton a boost in the crucial battleground state of Virginia and help win over white male voters.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is expected to pick Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as her running mate.

The former Secretary of State is tipped to make the announcement in an email to supporters on Friday afternoon.

Mr Kaine could give Mrs Clinton a boost in his home state of Virginia, a pivotal battleground in November's White House election.
