Steve, I'll take digital encryption as an example.

Both Hillary and Trump want to ban digital encryption, or at least force Silicon Valley to build backdoors into the technology. Because terrorism.

Now we all know Tim Cook is going to make the next iPhone "unhackable" even under government order. That means he could eventually become a fugitive.

Imagine President Trump going after him. EVERYONE will go ballistic. "OMG, he's Big Brother! He's Hitler! He's stomping on the 4th amendment!" People will flock toward Tim Cook's defense.

Now imagine President Hillary going after him. She'll get a pass. The negative reaction would be more muted. People will complain, but their protests will fall on deaf ears. Half of Silicon Valley would support Tim Cook, the other half would support Hillary.
