With an 8 year old Pioneer receiver in my 14 year old truck, I hardly feel like I have cutting-edge technology.

The 8 year old Pioneer receiver was released in 2008, when the first iPhone was about a year old. It has a USB port that accepts an iDevice charging cord. That connection both charges the device and passes audio to the receiver.

The receiver is also Bluetooth enabled, so any devices I pair with it don't need the cord to connect as phone or play music. If someone else is riding with me, and their device is not Bluetooth paired to the receiver, when they plug their device into my receiver, their music is then available via the USB connection while their device charges.

I've had this for so long, it seems like very rudimentary functionality to me, a basic necessity.

As Larry David likes to ask, what's the cutoff?

What's everyone's personal threshold for how old their equipment has to be for you to think it's old enough to be replaced?

How old is everyone else's setup?
