did you not understand? The Bush administration dropped the criminal charges and filed the civil charges, despite the fact that part of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had only been successfully prosecuted 3 times in the decades since it was passed. If the case was such a slam dunk, why did the Bush administration drop the criminal case and file something that had such a low probability of success?

Edit: I misread this part.
The part about Media Matters had nothing to do with this. So no huge surprise that it didn't lend any support. It was analyzing the civil case.

Edit: Whether or not you want to believe what Media Matters found, and I didn't read it, the criminal charges were dropped by the Bush administration per the bolded information above. It is a fact that the Bush administration filed civil charges 2 weeks before Obama took office. So the Obama DOJ could not have dropped criminal charges because none were on file.

As to Fox News, it is the mouthpiece for the Republican party. It isn't a credible source for analysis or news.

With Ailes being ousted, maybe it has a chance of evolving into a real news source.
