July 25, 2016, 10:18 am Susan Sarandon rips 'disgusting' DNC
By Joe Concha

Vocal Bernie Sanders supporter Susan Sarandon is slamming a “disgusting” effort by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to slant its presidential primary in favor of now-presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton.

After Friday's WikiLeaks email dump of more than 20,000 DNC emails revealed that Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and staffers displayed a concerted effort to thwart the Vermont senator, the Academy Award-winning actress ripped the DNC for its bias."That's so disgusting," Sarandon said in an interview with Jordan Chariton of The Young Turks, a popular progressive online network. "The critical question is, does it matter? Nixon resigned when they broke into the [DNC] headquarters ... and now you found out all this tampering went on. What does this really say about us if all of this goes by unattended?"

Sarandon, a lifelong Democrat, said she understands why Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Sanders are resonating with voters.

"A lot of people felt disenfranchised. A lot of people are working so hard and getting nowhere. A lot of people are sick with politics the way it is," she said. "And Bernie and Trump spoke to those people.”

Sarandon has been an outspoken critic of Clinton throughout the campaign, calling her “more dangerous” than Trump and predicting it was “inevitable” she would be indicted for her use of a private email server while secretary of State.
