I fully understand everyone's frustration with the two-party system. But it seems to be what we are stuck with for the foreseeable future and if either party starts splitting its vote, the other party wins. That has been shown over and over and over.

I'm extra-familiar with this dilemma, and it is a dilemma, in that up here in Alaska it has really happened a lot. But it is been in our favor i.e. we liberals, because the Republicans split their party up more than we did i.e. we have an active libertarian and independent party and both those split the vote with Republicans.

The Democrats generally vote together and is why we've had so many Democratic governors in the last 40 years disproportionate to Democratic voters in the state. We have had four Democratic governors and all but one had two terms. Yet today out of 20 Senators I believe 15 of them are Republicans and they have a vice grip on the house as well.

So dealing with that reality we have to stick with the Democratic Party because it is the only party that has a large enough army to fight the Republican Party. Bill Clinton won against George H Bush because he split the vote with Ross Perot. Per my previous post the six times in the past 40 years or so that the Democrats and Republicans have had a split in their party they have lost every single time
