It might make sense if you remember how energized the black community was. All the minority communities were on fire with the idea of a non-white president. Perhaps this emotion is difficult to remember, but the excitement was palpable. Somehow the first woman candidate isn't quite as exciting for the country- although it probably is for women. I know it is for me.
