They just threw the carrot out there during the campaign so they could get some votes
from the Left. Once they encountered resistance from the insurance/drug/healthcare companies,
the Clintons backed off without much of a fight.

i remember something more like wharf's post. clintons
didn't have the power to upset the insurance cart.
nobody else has yet either. to get more power you have
to make compromises with the rich and powerful. it's
a bad catch 22 nightmare. better the clintons catch it
than me.

i have had to rely on nature's healing powers for my
medical care for 66 years. :) in a way it's been good
for me. i can go places where there are no hospitals and
no medicine! ...with no weapons to weigh me down.
