Economic jittersBrexit isn’t the only factor driving gold.

In Japan, the public is turning to gold due to the economic jitters that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is causing. His three-pronged package to help the struggling economy is called Abenomics, and it led to a sharp plunge in the interest rates and a considerable leap in the yen.

The overall lull in the Japanese economy helped gold purchases.

The bullion sales soared about 30% during the first six months of 2016 compared to 2015.

he surge in demand for gold also happened because Japanese investors were already nervous about the negative interest rates the Bank of Japan introduced earlier this year.
