OT: Possible I am only fooling myself trying to consider these as value stocks. So far though, so good. But who knows? I will have to admire your stick-to-itiveness in avoiding them if they do not meet your requirements for value (as opposed to my altering my definition/requirements of/for "value" so that I make a purchase and call it a "value buy").
Just seems so easy to look out five years, maybe ten, and see people still buying on AMZN, still searching GOOG or using Android. Maybe to a lesser extent FB (I'm not on social media; FB is hard to avoid sometimes though), lesser still NFLX (I'm not a user.) I envision continuing revenue growth for Amazon and Alphabet. Maybe they'll be like the Oracle stock you mentioned: p/e stock comes down from lofty heights, earnings continue and at some point, maybe after an inevitable correction, the stocks then are a very good buys.
In a no-growth economy, it's become difficult to find stocks with growing revenue. AMZN & GOOG have it. I believe AMZN provides a very desirable way for people to shop, and GOOG provides info that people want to link to. In my view, jmo, these two would be companies that would be missed by consumers if they (the companies) weren't around. And that cannot be said for so many other companies. Perhaps not reason enough for buying the stocks at current prices though, I admit.
For me, I'm a person who would rather be in with a few shares and risk it, than be outside looking in with no shares. |
