We used to generate a lot of electricity here in the lower 48 with oil before the 1970's. That went away real fast after the Arab oil embargo in 1973. Don't worry, solar PV generated electricity will be the dominant form of electrical generation in the world in just a few decades. It's just too cheap, clean and sustainable to ignore any longer.
