NEW YORK, Dec 31 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley analyst Mary Meeker said Wednesday there was a 60 percent
chance Netscape Communications Corp might report earnings that fall short of estimates in the upcoming quarter.

-- Analysts expect Netscape to earn $0.14 per share in the fourth quarter, according to a First Call consensus
survey.

-- Meeker said in a research note the company was still working hard to make the quarter but there was a 60
percent chance or higher they would miss the numbers.

You mean they're not intentionally trying to tank the quarter.

-- ''Think base valuation of $18 to $20 is reasonable but this stock could easily continue to disappoint,'' she said.

-- Meeker did not change her strong buy rating on the stock or her earnings estimates.

Why would an analyst not make any changes to earnings estimate or rating but make the statements above. Sounds borderline criminal if you ask me. Nothing more than an attempt to drop the price of the shares.
