They're protected because they have special loopholes that apply only to them, i.e. carried interest. That allows them to pay a MAXIMUM of 15 percent on income. In return, they pay millions of dollars a year to politicians of both parties, i.e. bribes, who protect their loophole. This year it's Chuck Shumer's job to protect that loophole. Both parties do it. Don't mess with the cash cow.
